Einstein Exam
In the late 40', Albert Einstein was teaching an advanced
physics course at Princeton University. On the afternoon
of the day before the scheduled final examination for his
course, he was walking along the tree-lined paths of the
university talking with his graduate assistant. The
assistant had just reviewed Einstein's draft exam and was
shocked to learn that the questions were identical to the
ones Einstein had used the prior year. He said to
Einstein, "Professor, there are groups on this campus that
maintain copies of all exams. If you use the same
question as last year, you will undoubtedly give those who
saw last year's exam an advantage." Einstein kept walking
for a few paces then stopped and looked at his assistant.
And then Einstein said, "Yes my friend, it is true that
the questions are the same this year, but the answers are
different."
